Tom Hunt is the fastest growing B2B Linkedin account I have seen. One of his posts racking up an impressive 26 MILLION Impressions, and in a recent podcast he revealed the 7 STEPS of how he does it:
Step 1: Focus on Image posts
- Hunt is known for posts of himself drinking cappuccinos
- Images capture real estate on your phone when you scroll
- It doesn't have to be a photo of yourself, but there is something about human psychology that catches people’s attention when they see another person’s face in the feed
Step 2: The Hook
- A hook can make or break a post
- Best to be broken down in two lines
- Using paradoxes is an incredibly powerful
ei. “I just fired my best sales person, he was amazing.”
Step 3: Pillars
- What do you want to be known for?
- reverse engineer topics in your niche to never run out of ideas
Ei. GTM strategy, Bootstrapping, Marketing
Step 4: Story Telling
- People digest stories bests, so its ideal to keep posts in that format
Step 5: Hemingway App
- Best post proofreader
- makes sure writing style is at a grade 1 level
Step 6: Call to Action
- End each post with an incentive for reader to engage
- Hunt always ends posts with… “Agree?”
Step 7: Leave Hot Takes
- provide your controversial thought
- this is how you get the chunky comments, and the algorithm love to push those posts
My Take:
Tom is a master at broad reach, but my only pushback would be that it may not lead to a narrow ICP. I’ve had issues when it came to posting too broad and not getting the inbound that matches my customer profile.
But,
While you are experimenting with Linkedin,
It's okay to see what sticks.
Agree? ;)
