If I could rewind and step into the role of Head of Marketing, instead of an engineer, at the SaaS companies I previously worked with ($1M-$10M ARR), here's exactly what I'd prioritize:

1. Make LinkedIn the CEO’s megaphone

If you're in B2B and you're not actively leveraging LinkedIn, you're leaving money on the table.

Many CEOs underestimate LinkedIn’s role as modern PR with unmatched ROI.

Your ideal customers are already here. And even if their CEOs are too busy, decision-makers and key influencers in their teams are scrolling their feeds every day.

2. Build a content creation engine (Video + Text)

Block just one hour every other Monday morning for a sit-down with the CEO.

The secret to great content isn't endless brainstorming, it's routine. By setting a consistent schedule, your CEO effortlessly becomes a content creator, speaking passionately about their product, vision, and journey. Capture this energy.

Hire a skilled video editor and a copywriter. Videos on LinkedIn effectively establish trust, especially for premium products ($10K+ ACV), by humanizing your CEO. Meanwhile, compelling text content is essential for SEO and maximizing reach, high-quality written posts often outperform everything else.

3. Prioritize Impact Over Frequency

Don’t chase daily posts hoping for algorithmic love. Aim to create posts that deliver insights equivalent to a paid consultation.

Deeply understand your ICP’s core problems and speak directly to those pain points. If choosing between daily posts or 2-3 highly impactful posts per week, I'd choose the latter without hesitation.

FINAL THOUGHT:

When I was an engineer, the thought of diving into marketing felt daunting.

“That's not my job, I just want to build great products.”

But today, knowing where your audience lives and how to communicate value is crucial.

Just like coding, effective content creation is a skill you can develop and master.

“It is not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change.”
